Update in GYN Imaging Part 1

No more "complex" masses! Come learn how to describe and classify adnexal masses using standard terminology. In addition, we will review how to use the IOTA models and O-RADS tools to classify adnexal masses so that patients can be cared for by the appropriate surgical team or managed conservatively. Endometriosis and adenomyosis were historically diagnosed only surgically, but this is no longer true. Come learn how to identify both by pelvic ultrasound and help patients obtain optimal treatment options. Additionally, you will also learn how to identify pelvic adhesions, which is critical in determining surgical complexity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe adnexal masses using standard terms and definitions developed by the IOTA group, and use the MUSA classification system to recognize and describe findings of adenomyosis.
  • Explain how to use the IOTA models (Simple Rules and ADNEX) to determine risk of malignancy of an adnexal mass. Also, identify ultrasound findings of deep (extra-ovarian) endometriosis.
  • Understand the addition of O-RADS to help with management decisions and the selection of patients who need referral to GYN ONCE. Incorporate at least one new dynamic ultrasound maneuver to identify pelvic adhesions.
