Key diagnoses and differentials of the shoulder to be discussed includes the various types of rotator cuff tears. Pearls and pitfalls for each type of tear will be reviewed. There will also be a discussion of the secondary signs of rotator cuff tears, such as greater tuberosity cortical irregularity, tendon volume loss, cartilage interface sign, and joint/bursal effusion, allowing differentiation between tendon tear and tendinosis. Biceps tendon pathology will also be discussed, including tendinosis, tenosynovitis, and tendon tear. The differential diagnosis of fluid near the coracoid will be reviewed. The topics of paralabral cyst and acromioclavicular joint will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize what the speaker considers to be the most impactful diagnoses of the shoulder that can be made with ultrasound.
Identify important ultrasound mimics and differential diagnoses of shoulder abnormalities to avoid misinterpretation of imaging findings.
