Contrast enhanced Ultrasound in Gynecology
Ultrasound contrast agents are now being increasingly used in gynecology. Some of the applications are non-vascular like HyCoSy for tubal patency and evaluation of various fistulae such as Vesico vaginal fistula. The vascular applications include characterization of ovarian masses and evaluation of endometrial pathologies, suspected GTD and products of conception. It is also useful in differenting fibroids from adenomyosis. Adnexal torsions can be confidently diagnosed and tissue viability studied. Contrast agents have also been used in evaluation cervical masses.
