Pearls for Pregnancy Cardiopulmonary POCUS

The increasing level of maternal morbidity and mortality confronting the 21st century obstetrical care provider requires elite point of care clinical assessment at the bedside that can evaluate the maternal cardiopulmonary system. As an extension of the stethoscope, POCUS can be utilized to assess cardiopulmonary function in the context of acute maternal symptoms. The physiologic changes of pregnancy require positioning accommodation to optimize POCUS views. Convention of the indicator on the screen and probe orientation dictate how the focused cardiac views are achieved. These and other pearls will be discussed.
