The identification of the sentinel lymph node is an important aspect of predicting outcomes for cancer patients. The lymphosonography technique uses contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging of the lymphatic system after peritumoral injection of ultrasound contrast agent that act as lymphatic tracer in order to the identify lymphatic channels and sentinel lymph nodes.
