Think you know how to spot pericardial tamponade? This patient presented with dyspnea and acute kidney injury, with an otherwise negative workup. A bedside ultrasound cinched the final diagnosis and led to a life-, and kidney-saving pericardiocentesis. Here we discuss this atypical case from our emergency department and quickly review the sonographic findings of tamponade on bedside ultrasound so that you too can catch this diagnosis before its too late.
