The use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in family medicine has been increasing as cumulative evidence indicates its value in decreasing time to diagnosis and patient burden of healthcare interactions, while improving procedural safety and patient satisfaction. The uptake of POCUS within the field has been limited in part due to a lack of awareness of continuous education and training. A community-of-practice aims to join groups of learners with a range of educational backgrounds with shared interests and goals of advancing their domain of practice. We aim to share our experience in using a community-of-practice model to encourage ultrasound education and strengthen primary care mentorship.
