Many patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) may not be diagnosed with appropriate urgency due to the non-specific nature of presenting symptoms. Due to the non-invasive nature of POCUS combined with its instantaneous results, it can be a valuable tool in narrowing down the differential. Delayed diagnosis could lead to an advanced spread that can no longer be treated with a course of neoadjuvant therapy prior to surgery. Many providers in the emergency department are in the unique position of having access to POCUS, which can aid in expedited diagnosis of PDAC.
