Neutropenic enterocolitis (typhlitis) characteristically affects the terminal ileum and cecum. A paucity of literature reports the use of bedside ultrasound to interrogate bowel in immunocompromised patients with abdominal pain. To date, this is the first case report with imaging and pathology supporting the diagnosis of typhlitis affecting the descending and sigmoid colon. Given the significant morbidity and mortality associated with typhlitis, point-of-care (POC) ultrasound serves as an expeditious bedside adjunct to assess immediate surgical intervention.
