Pelvic floor US has promise for clinical use in patients with SCI and UI, both in diagnosing the type of UI and assisting in determination of treatment plans. Muscle thickness, suggestive of atrophy or good health, can be measured. Descent of the urethra and bladder, suggestive of stress urinary incontinence can also be determined. Handheld probes can easily be deployed in this scenario. More studies need to be done specifically following patients in clinical studies in response to treatment.
