In pregnancies complicated by fetal growth restriction (FGR), mode of delivery may be influenced by the presence of umbilical artery Doppler (UAD) abnormalities. The optimal mode of delivery in the presence of abnormal UAD is unclear, thus our objective was to investigate the association between abnormal UAD and cesarean delivery (CD). While prior studies have demonstrated an association between abnormal UAD and unplanned cesarean section, our study showed that abnormal UAD do not appear to increase the odds of CD and a trial of vaginal delivery may be a safe option in fetal growth restricted pregnancies with abnormal UAD.
