The purpose of this study is to validate the impact of evidence-based ultrasound podcasts as an objective teaching methodology in comparison to established traditional curriculum for first and second year emergency medicine residents (EM) for point-of-care ultrasound topics. First year emergency medicine residents starting their first rotations in July 2023 will be conducted into the study and randomized into control and experimental groups. Second year students who have not completed the required ultrasound curriculum in their first year will also be eligible for the study and enrolled. Currently, 4 subjects have been enrolled in the study and completed the given interventions and curriculum. The control group has a population of 1 and the experimental group has a population of 3. The control group will consist of subjects given only the traditional reading assignments, the experimental group will consist of subjects given the podcast and reading assignments. Both groups will be given a pre- and post- test to objectively measure the outcome of each group’s methods. The primary outcome will be the mean quiz scores for the two groups. The secondary outcome will be the post-quiz survey results. The anticipated preliminary data collection will take place starting July 2023.
