Emergency Medicine Resident, PGY-2
NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist
Brooklyn, United States
Greetings, my name is Alexander Belaia, MD, PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Resident at NYP Brooklyn Methodist. My emergency medicine interests include point-of-care ultrasound and global health, and I am exploring a new interest in sports medicine. I enjoy doing any type of procedure with an emphasis on central and arterial line placement, arthocentesis, and intubation. I enjoy learning new skills and recently was able to perform a lateral canthotomy! I enjoy doing cardiac ultrasounds, soft tissue exams accessing for free air, and ocular ultrasounds. I aspire to learn how to perform life-saving transesophageal ultrasound during a code and have been to several work-shops honing those skills. I also would like to perform more nerve blocks and pressure point injections for occipital headaches. I am a former college wrestler. My personal interests include exercise (power cleans at the gym and long runs), traveling - trying to visit a new country every year that I'm alive, and art (Impressionism and Post-Impressionism). I deeply enjoy being a detective of illness, making quick decisions, and connecting with my patients during their greatest times of need.
