Elaine (Lainey) Yu, DO is the current Ultrasound Fellow at UC San Diego. She completed residency in Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate & Kings County Hospital, where she developed a passion for wilderness medical education, low-fidelity simulation training, and austere applications of point-of-care ultrasound. She went on to complete a fellowship in Wilderness Medicine at UC San Diego where she researched endurance climbing performance measures and wilderness mass casualty triage simulation while completing her diplomas in mountain and marine medicine. Her current research projects center around POCUS and prehospital care for freedivers. In her free time, she can be found underwater, on a cliffside, or in the mountains.
