Dr. Carolyn L. Bayer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. She earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and then competed 7 years in industry working in systems engineering and laboratory automation. She completed a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining Tulane University, Prof. Bayer was an NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA (F32) Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests are in noninvasive imaging for assessment of placental function, diagnosis of pregnancy pathologies, and development of new therapies to treat diseases that lead to abnormal placental function and development.
