: Today’s learners are barraged with distractors that demand their focus and impede effective learning. Food insecurity and poverty, political uncertainty, social disruptions, and a pandemic are a few of the struggles that impose on the attention of our students. This is compounded by a constant feed of news and information and immediate contact with colleagues, friends, family, and others due to the widespread use of electronic devices. How can we ensure that we provide an environment for effective learning occur? What teaching strategies can we deploy to combat distraction in the classroom?
