Cardiopulmonary POCUS in Obstetrics...It's About Time
Cardiopulmonary POCUS: Putting it together
Sunday, April 7, 2024
4:20pm – 4:35pm
Location: Governor's B - 4th Floor
Point of care ultrasound is used for the evaluation and management of patients in the emergency department, intensive care unit, and operating room and has become routine in clinical practice. While POCUS is ubiquitous in the obstetric care environment its use is primarily limited to imaging of the fetus or uterus. The nation's maternal mortality crisis coupled with an increasingly complex patient population highlight a role for point of care ultrasound in the care of pregnant people. This session emphasizes cardiopulmonary uses of POCUS through the lens of pregnancy physiology and diagnoses. The session will provide a framework for obstetric care providers interested in expanding their POCUS skills and will offer high-yield information for existing cardiopulmonary POCUS providers whose skillset could be applied to the care of pregnant and postpartum people.
