Histotripsy, Technical

Histotripsy is a focused ultrasound therapy that achieves tissue ablation through the spontaneous but controlled generation and subsequent action of bubble clouds. The technology is in a clinical testing phase for multiple targets, and was cleared by the U.S. FDA for treatment of lesions in the liver. This talk will provide an overview of technical aspects of histotripsy, including its basic physical principles, instrumentation, and considerations for ultrasound image guidance.
