Medical Student
The Ohio State University College of Medicine
HILLIARD, United States
I'm Adam Smith, a third-year medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Prior to medical school, I had the opportunity to teach high-school science in a low-income community and would later study mechanical engineering as an undergraduate. These experiences were formative for my career aspirations - I am very interested in the intersection of accessible technology and improved care for all patients. I believe the usage of ultrasound technology in medicine today and the future is a great example of this meeting. Ultrasound technology is becoming cheaper and more physically compact, but successful clinical application is heavily dependent upon user skill and experience. As president of the MSK Ultrasound Community of Practice student interest group, I believe this model provides an enriching educational experience and helps to prepare today's medical students so that they can go on to be confident and competent users and champions of this powerful technology.
