Amir Shamshirsaz, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. He specializes in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Surgical Critical Care, and is also certified in "Special Competence in Critical Care Echo Examination".
Dr. Shamshirsaz received his medical degree from the National University in Tehran, Iran. He then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Following this, he pursued fellowships in maternal fetal medicine and surgical critical care at Baylor College of Medicine. He currently serves as an assistant professor in maternal fetal medicine and critical care medicine at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Shamshirsaz holds the positions of "Co-director of Maternal Critical Care" and "Co-Director of Placenta Accreta Spectrum Care Team" at Texas Children's Hospital/Pavilion for Women.
Some of his main interests include Critical Care, Point of Care ultrasound, Cardiac Disease during Pregnancy, ECMO during Pregnancy, and Placenta Accreta Spectrum. He has also served on the Expert Panel for Obstetric Life Support (OBLS), where he helped develop a Simulation-based Maternal Cardiac Arrest Program for credentialing Specialists and First Responders.
